my cousin

Lauren Davis Duncan is my cousin. She is like a sister to me. The closest thing, really, given our history. We are about 6 weeks apart in age. Our mothers had us playing together almost constantly while growing up. We were dressed as twins until we got too old to protest.

She has always been my best friend. We could go FOREVER without talking (because of life in general), and still get together as though it had only been hours. I am comfortable in saying that I am closer to her than almost anyone else. She is sweet, caring, kind, loving, honest, funny and one of my truly favorite people. Always there for me, and other friends as well.

A month ago, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Michael Davis Duncan, at 24 weeks. He was so tiny. He had some obvious health issues to deal with, but for being such a little guy, he fought hard.

After a particularly difficult battle, he went home to be with the Lord last night.

He was still so precious to see. A little miracle any you look at him.

Please remember Scott & Lauren as they are going through this tragedy in their life. I know he wasn't my actual nephew, but it felt like he was to me. And I still cannot begin to imagine how she is feeling.

I am so very thankful that Lauren has Cari as a good friend, who has gone through a similar tragedy. Someone to comfort her in a way that may of us do not know how.

Please pray for them, their parents & their siblings.
