Busy bee

Do you recall the movie Gladiator? And the scene where Joaquin Phoenix is talking with his sister, and he's pretty cheesed off because she has been helping Russell Crowe?

He said, "What have you been doing, busy little bee?"

I told Zach that this scene plays through my mind when I have done/began a project while he wasn't home.... and usually had no idea it was going to happen in the first place. This made him nervous.

Not that he gets cheesed off at me, but the fact that I feel like I am almost doing something behind his back, although I don't try to hide anything, and I am usually pretty proud of what I accomplish on my own.

All that said, I started a new project. No, the floors in our bedroom are still bare concrete, but it is going to take time and money (neither of which we have) to get that done.

So I did what any person would do, and started yet another project! I ripped up the carpet in the playroom/front room. It was disgusting. 9yrs old, and somehow survived 2 permanent dogs, 2 lizards (with a burn hole from a heat lamp... my fault!), 2 babysat dogs, two different times, and one time I think the bigger of the two exploded a little on the carpet.

Then there were lots a children, dirty menboys, and just plain old, old carpet.
I got all of it up, only to discover a large crack in the foundation running diagonally across the room.

So then I had to get concrete filler, and pull up all the carpet strips. Once that was all done, I was able to start putting in the tiles.

It looks a little kitchen-y, but at least it doesn't smell any more, they were only 26cents each, and I don't mind being in there! I do need to finish scraping off the carpet padding around the edges, but it should be totally finished in a day or two!

That is too cool. We are still on bare concrete after our "started" project several (won't say how many) months ago.

Even if it stays this way forever, it is still much better than the stinky old carpet.

Wow, you're pretty handy! It looks nice. We really need to do something with our basement floor, but since it has a propensity to get some water, I just haven't figured out what to do with it yet. We painted it (unfortunately) so now, whatever we do, we'll have to scrape up all the paint. Not my idea of fun...perhaps you should come over and help :)
